How to play Fives

At the start of the game every player is 'in'. Each round of the game starts with the player whose turn it is doing a countdown of 'three, two, one' followed by a multiple of five. For example, 'three, two, one, twenty'. At the same time as the player says the multiple of five every player holds out a hand, with either a closed fist or an open hand.

If the number of outstretched fingers is equal to the multiple of five that the player said then that player is 'out'. They must not celebrate, but must instead say the phrase 'thank you for a lovely game of fives' with a completely straight face. If they celebrate or fail to say this phrase then they are still 'in'.

If the number of outstretched fingers is not equal to the multiple of five that the player said, then that player is still 'in' and must drink.

The aim of the game is to get 'out' by correctly guessing the number of fingers that will be held outstretched. The last player to be left 'in' must down their drink.
